Rio Puerco Bridge II

The Rio Puerco in New Mexico where it joins with the Rio Grande is a bleak, dusty place. After rainfall, the water runs through the river bed in a thick, muddy concoction that coats everything it touches in a filthy film. In this photo, the river had just begun to slow down. The tail-end of the rain run-off slowly makes its way to the river. Like an exhausted marathon runner looking for a finish line, the tired river finds the bridge that tells of rest just beyond in the big waters of the Rio Grande, while heavy clouds loom darkly overhead, shielding the river in its shadow.

This is beautiful. I am very jealous that I don’t get to visit all the places that you do. I also really like the contrast in the light underneath the clouds and darkness of the trees. That, combined with the reflection on the water is quite spectacular.

My only other thought was, you must have gotten your boots really muddy.
